DigitalLifeMap does not draft, witness, execute or store legal documents. Your plan has no legal force on its own. It is a companion to an attorney-drafted will, trust or power of attorney — not a substitute for one.

Not a password manager or vault

We store no credentials and provide no encrypted vault. Any password on your printed plan is written by you, by hand, and secured by you.

State law varies

Most US states have adopted a version of RUFADAA, the Revised Uniform Fiduciary Access to Digital Assets Act. It generally gives priority to a platform's own online tool, then to your will or power of attorney, then to the platform's terms of service. Details, and the treatment of message contents versus account records, differ by state and by country.

Platforms can override your wishes

A provider's terms of service may restrict what any designated contact can see or do, and some providers require a court order. Setting each platform's own legacy tool is the most reliable step available to you.

Accuracy is yours

We cannot verify what you enter or detect when it goes stale. Review your plan after any major change — a new phone, a new bank, a new email address — and reprint it.
